12.16.21 | Holiday Closure Reminder & Updates

Dear Friends,

There’s a different energy in the library whenever we’re all working to prepare for the same thing. I have a massive stack of books on my desk, some I’ve pulled for my enjoyment over the holidays, and others serve as reminders there’s much to do before our holiday closure! Our staff is busy prepping bags of books and media for patrons, finishing projects that began in 2021, and dreaming big for what 2022 will bring to the library.

As a reminder, we will be closed from the end of the day on December 23, reopening at 9:00 a.m. on January 4, 2022. Please do not worry about books that may be due while we are closed. All books due over this period will now be due when we reopen on the 4th. Remember as well that we do not charge for late fees and that our book drops will be open and cleared regularly over this break. Season’s readings from Skidompha!

We will be fulfilling Interlibrary Loans (ILLs) through Thursday, 12/23, so please get your ILLs in early to allow time for delivery. And, remember to check in with one of our librarians if you’d like a Library Grab Bag! Librarians can choose a few books for patrons once they have details on author and genre preferences.

The Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop will be closed on Christmas Day. Otherwise, they will be open their regular hours every day, including on Sunday, December 26; New Year’s Day; and Sunday, January 2. Regular hours for the Book Shop are Monday through Saturday, 9 to 4; Sunday, 9 to 3.

This note will be my last long message until after the new year. I want to thank each of you for being a part of Skidompha this year. Your energy, interests, and support help make Skidompha an incredible place.

We look forward to walking into this next year with you. We look ahead with hope and hold this moment with a lot of gratitude.

Be well,
Matthew Graff
