Porter Meeting Hall

Barbara Cooney Porter, internationally acclaimed children’s book author, illustrator and Damariscotta resident, led the way to our new library facility. Mrs. Porter’s munificent gift of $550,000 to Skidompha in 1997 launched an ambitious capital campaign which resulted in the New Skidompha. Our state-of-the-art, 90-seat  auditorium is dedicated in her honor. 

The space is ideal for book signings, movie showings, lectures, meetings, celebrations, musical events and limited theatrical productions. 

The facility features flexible, lightweight, multilevel seating, a large retractable movie screen, rheostat-controllable zone lighting, a full VHS/DVD/CD/PC projection/display/audio system and a mobile lectern. Access to restrooms and a separate entrance is available for after-hours events.

The Meeting Hall – a "gem of a space, a site for the spoken word," is available for use by the general public for a nominal fee. For further information and reservations, contact the library at 563.5513.
