Second Hand Book Shop

A fun way to find great bargains while expanding your own book collection is by visiting our book shop, which is located in a former 19th century carriage house, half a block north of Skidompha's Elm Street entrance.
The Skidompha Secondhand Book Shop offers a variety of previously owned books for your reading and gift-giving enjoyment. We're staffed by volunteers who can answer your questions and direct you around the shop. Make your way through this eclectic collection to find books about every subject imaginable. This is a treasure trove for serious and not-so-serious readers, filled to the rafters with books that should be read many times more than once. Of special interest is the great selection of children’s books—you might even find your long-lost favorite!
There are fiction and nonfiction hardbacks and paperbacks, dictionaries, books about Maine and New England, matched sets of beautiful old books, first editions, rare books, books for mystery fans, children, cooks, quilters, artists, gardeners, and on and on. The shop also stocks music cd’s, movies and audio books.
And why not consider donating some of your own books to the shop? It’s a great cause. All proceeds go directly to the library's operating budget.
The shop is open from 10 to 4, Monday through Friday and from 10 to 1 on Saturdays.
