Our Staff

Executive:
Pam Gormley
Born and raised in the Bronx and a proud Yankees fan, Pam came to Maine with her family, Mal, Katie and Timm in 1994. Before making the move to the best place on earth, Pam worked for Reader's Digest for 23 years. "Being Director of Skidompha is the best job ever!," says Pam. "I work with the smartest, most competent, and creative people ever and am thrilled to be part of the national award winning team at Skidompha!"
Development:
Amy McNaughton
Amy joined the development staff of Skidompha in September of 2010 following five years as the director of The Firehouse Gallery in Damariscotta. This brought her full circle as she had spent ten years in arts and environmental fundraising prior to her work at the gallery. Amy is an avid reader of historical fiction and lives in Newcastle with her husband, her son, and a menagerie of adopted animals.
Katie Gormley
Katie practically grew up in Skidompha Library. While attending Lincoln Academy, Katie served as a page. After completing her BA in Anthropology from Smith College in 2010, she returned to the library to work on Skidompha's technology needs and formally joined with development office in December of 2011. Katie's former development experience includes an internship at the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts in 2009 as well as one at Skidompha that same year. Katie lives with her family in Damariscotta and likes disease-based thriller novels, playing ukulele, and writing fiction.
Adult Services:
Anne Holmes
Anne came home to Maine after a variety of experiences around the country, including farming in Oregon, graduate school in California, and high-school teaching on Long Island. She has a background in history, anthropology and Chinese, and reads mostly non-fiction, along with an occasional vampire book. She chooses the non-fiction and science fiction for Skidompha, and is a book indexer when she is not at the library.
Yvonne Lamoreaux
If variety is the spice of life then Yvonne‘s background is as interesting as many of our best novels. Born in Denver and living in many large cities throughout the U.S., she and her husband retired to rural Jefferson and with their treasured Westies, have adapted thoroughly. She had a variety of occupations from cutting hair in Hollywood, to working as an investigator for the Attorney General’s Office in Boston. Since retiring, she took up the hobby of quilting and has won several state awards. Yvonne volunteered at Skidompha for the past 6 years and has recently joined our staff. She thanks the library for making many great friendships.
Barbara Martin
On her way to teaching high school English, Barbara Martin detoured into the Massachusetts Trial Court and spent the next 29 years employed (not detained) as a Juvenile Probation Officer. After “serving” her time, she and her husband retired to try on some “new hats.” Not lucky enough to be born Mainers, they were wise enough to move here from away, settling in Newcastle with their two spoiled but wonderful dogs. Since then, she has enjoyed being a local reporter and has written a children’s book. Because libraries always ranked up there with ice cream and puppies on her “cannot resist list,” she has happily joined our staff and is able indulge her passion for books while participating in Skidompha’s mission of serving our community.
Denise Rankin
Convinced that Damariscotta is the center of the universe, Adult Services Librarian Denise Rankin came to Maine after a career as a writer in Maryland and Massachusetts. She is passionate about mysteries, literary fiction, and art books, and chooses mysteries, audiobooks, and films for the library. She is also a painter and a maker of Shaker oval boxes and trays. Denise was educated at Rice University in Houston and Arizona State in Tempe, AZ. She and her partner Joe are forever working on an old house in Newcastle.
Rachel Zoller
Rachel has been working in the adult section of the library since October, 2007 after 40 years of teaching elementary school. Her responsibilities include statistics and the Large Print ordering. She has created a program called “Traveling Books” through which books, tapes and videos are delivered through Meals on Wheels. Her goal is to expand this program to other shut-ins. Rachel lives in Newcastle with her husband Jay. They enjoy being docents at the Farnsworth Museum, traveling, visiting their seven grandchildren, gardening and especially reading. And, she loves chatting with people at the front desk about their reading!
Youth Services:
Jen Betts
Jen's dream of working in the childrens' room at Skidompha finally came true in March of 2008, although she had to agree to take on teen programming to get the job. Since then, she has dedicated herself to teens and has been known to fry up a bug or two, take a bus load of teens to the opening night of Twilight, and create controversy in the community with a spray chalk graffiti program all in the name of teen programming. She has created a teen group known as The B.O.O.K.I.E.S. (the Benevolant Order Of Kids Involved in the Enhancement of Skidompha) and worked on improving the Teen Space and experience at Skidompha. Jen is one-half of the dynamic duo in the childrens' room affectionately known as "The Jens."
Terry Hapach
children@msln.net
Back in Ohio, many years ago, Terry was often found waiting impatiently for the library doors to open. When she was offered a part-time job there after school, she loved it so much it became a career that lasted over 30 years. Then one crazy vacation day she and her husband took a different route on the way to the Erie Zoo – and ended up in Maine. To live here on a more permanent basis, she retired. Or so she thought. A volunteer stint turned into employment and she’s now pleased to be helping the Two Jens in the childrens department of an awesome library full of wonderful people.

Jenny Mayher
Jenny Mayher never imagined herself as a Children's Librarian, mostly because she was not sure she could stay quiet long enough. But since she started at Skidompha in 2006 she has found that she loves the job, especially talking about books with readers of all ages all day long. Jenny lives in Newcastle with her husband, two children (10 and 7), and various animals.
