Dear Friends,
A short but beautiful story, inbound. I got word that our Skidompha Strummers, Skidompha’s ukulele band, played a private concert on Saturday at the Apifera Farm (https://www.apiferafarm.org/) in Bremen for the animals and the human guests who help support the farm.
I confess to being moved-albeit not surprised-that our Strummers would do such a thing. I am privileged to talk with them now and then and each time I come away feeling their fun, warmth, and compassion. To paraphrase Mahatma Ghandi: I feel I can tell a lot about the group by how they care for animals, including those living on a healing sanctuary.
At risk of anthropomorphizing, I am privy of some lovely anecdotes about how the animals drew near to the Strummers as they played, as if enjoying and drawing pleasure and comfort from the music. Thank you to all the Skidompha Strummers for doing such a beautiful thoughtful thing.
The Skidompha Strummers practice every Thursday in our Porter Room from 3-5pm, and give concerts in Skidompha periodically throughout the year.
Be well,
Matthew
