2026.07.09 Heat Wave and Summer Movies

0

Dear Friends,

I hope you managed last week’s heatwave without too much trouble. I saw a “Feels Like” temp of 105° F. at one point. Not unexpected, considering the dew point, but still intense. My cats, Sita and Kanha, were not happy(!) and only just made it without melting into a puddle, if you ask them. A gentle reminder that Skidompha is available to you with AC or heat depending upon the season. We’re here for you when the mercury rises or falls, with a climate-controlled environment and lots to do; and you are welcome to stay the whole day if you like.

A quick note that coming up on Sunday, July 12th, at 7:00 PM we will have the next installment of our Free Summer Movie Series, with Night at the Museum (PG). We will be showing the movie here, at Skidompha, in our Porter Hall, and our doors will open at 6:30 PM. In keeping with our Summer Reading theme of paleontology, archaeology, and museums, Night at the Museum is a fun, family-friendly film in which a newly recruited security guard at the Museum of Natural History discovers that an ancient artefact causes the animals and exhibits on display to come to life and wreak havoc every night. Costumes of the movie’s characters are encouraged, and we will provide snacks. Come join us, and enjoy our Porter Hall after dark!

Be well,
Matthew
