2026.07.16 Silent Book Club

Hello friends,

I hope you are staying cool. As I write this on Tuesday, we are in the midst of another warm day and I’m reading there is the potential for some strong storms to visit us overnight. I’m hoping that by the time this is published on Thursday we can look back at any storms we receive as a gentle respite with beneficial rain rather than anything worse.

A quick reminder that our Silent Book Club program is now offered twice a month, on the second and fourth Thursday, from 6:00-7:30pm. I confess I was slightly skeptical about offering this at first, but I’m overjoyed now by its popularity. For those who have yet to attend: picture scheduling an hour-and-a-half to just read silently with a group of other like-minded readers, and then discussing your books at the end.

Speaking for myself, I am often overscheduled with things to do when I get home from work, or busy over the weekend with things I need to do to catch up. Unfortunately, my reading can suffer. My gentle suggestion is, be kind to yourself and drop by for one-or both sessions. It’s easy to rationalize away our personal time, but it’s important that we don’t.

Be well,
Matthew
