Dear Friends,
I received some pretty joyous news a while back, one of my superlative nephews is getting married to a wonderful young lady in September. They live in Boston now and have chosen northern New Hampshire for their nuptials. It will be nice to get together with family and celebrate the occasion and reflect on the absurdity that nephew #1 is in his twenties. How did that happen?
I’m looking at my computer screen astonished that we are starting the third week of July. I’m always surprised at just how fast summer passes here on the Midcoast. Perhaps because it is a fleeting few months, or it happens to be our busiest time. Either way, it goes quickly. I remember my first year here in Maine and seeing trees starting to change color during the second and third week of August! For those curious, I mean the ones to your left as you head north on Rt. 1 and then descend the off ramp into Damariscotta. Until such time as the sun sets early and the leaves change, the cats and I will enjoy the greenery, the chirping birds, and the warm breezes that blow through open windows.
Oh hey, there’s a new craft-lending cart here at Skidompha. It is bright red and located inside by our Elm Street entrance. Please use it as a place to donate and pick up arts/crafts supplies. Have you ever purchased or been gifted supplies for a craft only to find out it’s not for you? Or maybe you want to try out a craft but not want to spend on supplies for something you may not enjoy? Our Cart is for you! Consider it a way to spread the craft wealth as it were, and a source of supplies and mediums for you to experiment.
Before I go, let me remind you that Lucas, the therapy dog and reading buddy will be available in the Children’s Room to listen to kids read to him on July 28th, August 11th, and August 18th from 4 to 5:30pm. Lucas is an adorable and gentle therapy dog that loves to hear your stories. Please come by and spend some time with him and your favorite book.
