Weekly Virtual Mindfulness Meditation Group

Tuesdays, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.

 

Mindfulness meditation can offer the body and mind a chance to settle. Through our practice together, we begin to create the conditions for ease, resilience, and compassion to grow in our lives. Whether you are a long-time practitioner or want to try meditation for the first time, please join Jeannette for weekly and monthly guided meditations. Email Jeannette for the links.

 

Jeannette is a certified mindfulness teacher and a graduate of Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach’s Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program and the Cloud Sangha Mindfulness Mentor Training program. She has also completed two courses with Mindful Schools. She maintains a personal meditation practice and has been practicing meditation on and off for nearly two decades.

 

Weekly Online Poetry Group. Fridays, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Join us on Fridays to share a favorite poem—someone else’s or one of your own.
Stay connected, get inspired, take a minute out of your day to hear a few good poems! Please join to share or just to listen.

Wired Wednesdays: Drop-In Technology Help

Wednesdays. 20-minute sessions from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Do you have questions about using your phone, tablet, or computer? Would you like to learn about posting to social media? How about learning to use Skidompha’s digital resources? We’re happy to help!

You can sign up for one-on-one help with Molly to receive specialized assistance with your technology questions. 20-minute sessions will be offered every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Donuts & Devices: Digital Literacy Workshop

Skidompha Library is excited to offer a series of workshops focused on technology basics. With handouts and gentle guidance, these workshops are perfect for those who are new to technology or who want to review their fundamentals. Oh, and did we mention that there will be donuts?

NOTE: The computer room will be closed from 9am – 12pm on Oct. 21 & Nov. 4th for the Donuts & Devices workshops. A computer will be available at the Front Desk for any urgent printing needs.
 
The Donuts & Devices: Digital Literacy Workshops are funded by the Public Library Association Digital Literacy Workshop Incentive, supported by AT&T, which strives to support libraries of all sizes to conduct digital literacy training in their communities and help close the digital divide.

 

Fiber Arts Club

We are excited to announce that starting on November 22nd, the library will host a Fiber Arts Club every Tuesday from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. in Porter Hall! This casual drop-in group is for anyone with a fiber arts projectbe it knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, felting, or any other fiber-based mediumand is open to people of all skill levels. Please note that these gatherings are not workshops, so neither instruction nor materials will be provided. Participants must bring their own supplies.

Cooking Matters for Parents and Caregivers

For All Ages

CLC YMCA Farms Kitchen | Registration Required

Join Lincoln County SNAP Educator, Larissa Hannan, for a 6-week cooking education series. From fruits and veggies to making recipes at home to learning snack hacks that will help you prep for your week, Cooking Matters for Parents and Caregivers is the perfect family activity this winter. This class is free and family-friendly! Participants who attend at least 4 sessions will receive a $10 Hannaford Gift Card!

Chess Club for Adults

Do you enjoy chess? Have you always wanted to learn how to play but weren’t sure where to start? This winter/spring, Skidompha Library will host a monthly chess night for adults of all skill levels to play this classic game of strategy.

Registration is not required; please use the Library’s back entrance to access the Porter Meeting Hall.

 

Skidompha After Dark: Game Night!

For Adults and Teens (16 years and older)
Last Friday of the Month (Feb – May) | 6:00pm – 9:00pm

This winter, grab some friends and head over to Skidompha Library for a special after-hours game night! Bring your own game to play or use of the games provided by the library to have some fun and connect with other gamers in the community. Light refreshments will be provided, but feel free to bring your own snacks, dinner, and/or beverages. Please note that alcohol is NOT permitted on Library grounds.

Food Safety

For Adults
Friday, April 14 | 10:00am – 11:00am

Food Systems & Home Horticulture Professional, Viña Lindley, will familiarize adults with hygienic practices for food handling, storage, and preparation as well as answer questions about expiration dates and what to do in the case of a power outage. Each participant will receive a refrigerator thermometer to take home after the workshop.
