EPOCH Magazine: A creative magazine by teens for teens

EPOCH is a creative magazine that publishes artwork and writing by teens in grades 7 – 12. Submit your work via email to be considered for the next volume!  Information and forms for submitting are below.  For the 2025-26 school year, our deadline for accepting submissions is February 12, 2026.

Interested in seeing past issues? Come on into the Teen Room at the Library! Our collection includes all the previous issues, so you can enjoy the immense skill and joy shown by teens around Maine.

Join the EPOCH Team!

The EPOCH Editorial Board is also made up of students, and overseen by Skidompha’s Teen Services Librarian, Hannah. They review the writing and art submitted and make selections as to which pieces will appear in print. Conversations are engaging, and complete with Library-provided snacks! The Editorial Board meets throughout the year, starting in November/December. To apply, send Hannah an introductory email at EPOCH@skidompha.org with the following information:

Subject: Epoch Editorial Board

Your name, grade, age, and school
A writing or art skill you have
A writing or art skill you want to improve
A writing or art sample

TO SUBMIT WRITING OR ARTWORK TO EPOCH FOR 2025-26 SCHOOL YEAR

Email your work to EPOCH@skidompha.org. Any artwork needs to be high resolution (AT LEAST 300 DPI), and sent as either a .jpg, .jpeg or .png only. Any written work must be 1,500 words or fewer, and should be sent as .doc, .docx, .txt, or .pdf only. For both written and visual art, you will need to include:

Your name, grade, age, and school
Title of work
Medium (for visual art)
The work itself

All submissions will be judged blind — the Editorial Board will not see the name or school of the artist until after the piece has been reviewed for inclusion. If you have any other questions, stop in or email to discuss!
