Genealogy

The Skidompha History and Genealogy Center is open year-round during library hours. It is an information center where visitors can access up-to-date events happening at local historical societies, genealogy groups, historic buildings, and museums.

Current Services

  • If you have genealogy questions, we have a team of volunteers who will be happy to help. Please email our library staff at info@skidompha.org. Staff will then reach out to our volunteers and get back to you as soon as possible.
  • Our volunteers are available in the library on most Thursday afternoons from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. It’s always a good idea to call ahead! 207-887-0919.
  • We don’t have anyone managing our genealogy Facebook page at this time. Still, we hope you will spend some time checking out earlier posts for some fun content:  Skidompha Library Genealogy.
  • Check out our Online Resource page for links to helpful sites you can use from home!
  • We have talented volunteers to help with research and genealogy software, cemeteries, Maine Civil War records, the Skidompha Genealogy collection, Ancestry, state, and federal archives, transcriptions, the Maine collection, family stories, deeds and probate research, and scanning, editing, and organizing photographs.
  • Subscribe to Skidompha’s weekly newsletter, which, when we have them, will include genealogy suggestions for books, websites, blogs, etc.
