2024.01.04 Exploration Art Studio and More

Hello Friends,

A note on just some of the neat happenings at Skidompha this month:

We have a new Art Alcove coming! Starting this Saturday, January 6, we will open our Exploration Art Studio (EAS), situated in a cozy nook under the staircase. The EAS is a spot reserved for artistic exploration of Skidompha-curated art projects. Each month we will offer a new project, necessary supplies, and instructional videos to help you get started. You provide the inspiration. Projects will be offered in a range of depths and difficulties from beginner to advanced for your artistic growth and challenge. I look forward to seeing our community’s creativity! Thank you to our collaborating artist, Erica Qualey, for her work in bringing this idea to life.

And sampling of a few other programs…

Looking for something to do with the family on a Friday evening? Check out our Family Board Game Nights! Open to ages 5 and up, on the second Friday of each month (1/12, 2/9, and 3/8) from 4:00pm – 6:00pm.

For adults seeking fun there is the Skidompha After Dark: Game Night. Open to those 16 years and older on the first Friday of each month from 6:00pm – 9:00pm. A number of us received new board games over the holidays and can’t wait to try them out.

For teens, we have the Teen Tarot Card Club on the third Friday of the month at 3:30pm. Interested in learning about the history of tarot, the major and minor arcanas, different card spreads, and how to read for yourself and others? Frazier is there to help!

A new addition to our schedule, Puzzle Fest! For all ages on Saturday, January 13 from 10:00am – 2:00pm. Have fun with our selection of puzzles or bring your own at our puzzle palooza! We’ll have a collaborative puzzle, timed races, mini puzzles, a puzzle swap, crafts, snacks, and more!

And finally we are still accepting submissions for teen zine, EPOCH, Volume 11! The deadline is February 9, 2024. Email your submissions to epoch@skidompha.org

Don’t stop here, though. Keep scrolling for news about all the other neat things going on at Skidompha!

Be well,
