2024.03.07 Snowdrops and Mindfulness

Dear Friends,

A few updates today.

I was out shopping last weekend doing the things I don’t get to during the week, and I noticed the stores were already packing their shelves with planting supplies! I guess it should be no surprise; it’s already March and it was joyous to get out in the sun last weekend for a walk, and the snowdrops are peaking out at my house!

While I’m here I’d like to remind people that our Jannette Eaton continues to offer her superlative virtual mindfulness group classes on Tuesdays 10-11am, as well as her virtual poetry club on Fridays from 10-11am. Jeannette is one of the finest facilitators I have ever had the pleasure to work with and I urge you to consider signing up for the programs and take advantage of the nourishing respite each offers.

Also, if we could impose upon our patrons who are registered to vote in Damariscotta, we need your signature! Damariscotta has recently altered their process of requesting financial support. To petition for this aid, Skidompha, and other agencies, must submit a petition in support of town funding with over 120 signatures of registered Damariscotta voters by March 15th. We’re at around 80 signatures, so we could really use your help to push us past our goal. Please come on down and ask about signing our petition.

Finally, a gentle reminder that we are requiring library cards to check out items. We understand that this is a bit of a change, but we’re doing this for purposes of security and to protect your privacy. In the past we have not required your card but this has led to a number of problems including lapses in privacy and books being checked out to the wrong patron. Let us know if you are missing your card and we can provide you with a new one, including one you can hang on your keychain!

Be well,

Matthew
