2024.03.21 Programming at Skidompha

Dear Friends,

Some days I have to stop and embrace with pride the great diversity of programming Skidompha staff create. Those people who consider libraries boring, quiet buildings with dusty books and crabby staff can’t be further from the truth.

A small taste of what is going on at Skidompha: How about Escape the Library, Skidompha’s first escape room event on April 6th from 4-5:30pm. Molly has put together a fiendishly clever set of clues for a team of fiendishly clever people to resolve and escape Skidompha! Registration is required for this one. And of course we will be hosting an Eclipse Party on April 6th as well. Stop down between 10 and 2pm Saturday for a free pair of eclipse glasses and join the fun. We also host a Teen Chess Club from 3-4:30 every Thursday. All skill levels welcome, from those who want to learn how to play to teen Grand Masters. There’s the Genealogy Roundtable on the second Thursday of each month from 1-3pm. Looking for something to do with the family besides a movie or binge streaming? How about our Family Game Time (ages 5’ish and up) on Friday’s from 3-4:30pm? Have a tech question: Our Wired Wednesday is switching to Tech Help Saturdays from 10-1pm, now with new and improved, super-sized 25 minute appointments! By appointment only.

And if none of the above appeal to you, we have the world’s best used bookshop available back on Elm Street Landing where you stroll the stacks, chat with our wonderful volunteers, or just sit and read in a beautiful setting overlooking the river.

Be well,
Matthew
